My Crazy Weekend...and now snow!

I only have about 20 minutes until it's the end of my work day, so I will try to squeeze everything in. This past weekend was sort of crazy.

Friday, Jake went to go pick up my car from the body shop and was appalled at the work that was done. They had to replace the whole bumper, which I knew, but they put on a new bumper that didn't even FIT. On top of that, the paint job was done extremely poor and didn't match the rest of my car in the slightest. I went through this the last time my car had some work done, and neither Jake nor I want this to be a continuous battle to get my car done RIGHT. Jake had to have a serious talk with an employee at the body shop and get to the bottom of this. Quite honestly, I can't wrap my mind around HOW they could honestly pick up the phone and call us to say the car is "done", drive it out of their garage, park it out front of their shop, and wait for us to come get it with the poor workmanship that was performed on it. Do they not have EYES?! Do they not CARE about the quality of their work? Even more, would any of THEM accept their own car in the condition they left mine in? No. The answer is NO to all of the above.

The customer care rep said he works for Toyota in Everett. Apparently, according to this rep, spare parts that are sold to body shops from the dealership are all sub-standard and weren't accepted to go on stock Toyota cars at the Toyota factory. So...what makes them think I would accept this piece of shit on MY $20,000 car? He understood and assured Jake that he will "get to the bottom of it" and find a good bumper. Now, I still do not have my car back and it has been a huge pain in the ass with all this snow, since I can't ride my bike. So, I had to take a very long and brisk walk after work while I waited for Jake to come pick me up from work after hearing about the body shop experience. I was extremely angry, in fact, if it's not already obvious, the whole situation bothers me TREMENDOUSLY. Partly because I just went through this exact same thing 2 months ago, and party because I really need my car back. I'm just in awe of how employees of body shops let this happen. I will keep going back until my car is perfect.

Saturday was a good day, though. Jake and I cleaned house a bit. We went to Costco! That's always fun. We brought the dogs over to stay at Jake's parents house while we were shopping. Bernie is getting so old...

Sunday started out great. Well, sort of. We had plans to go snowboarding and Brian was to meet us at our house at 7am. Well...we forgot to set our clocks one hour ahead for day light savings time, so even though I thought I was getting up at 6 to jump in the shower, I was waking up at 7 to Brian at our door, ready to go. Woops. 30 minutes later we were on the road...

The snow was BEAUTIFUL! 11" of new powder the night before. Blue skies the first few hours, then only slight snowfall from then on out. It was great. No real run ins with crazy ass people, either. Here are some photos from the trip:

We ended up coming home around 3 or 4 since we pretty fatigued. Might have something to do with doing p90x yoga the night before, I dunno. We get home, start cleaning and Lily starts acting weird. Her inner eye lids are half covering her eyes and she's stumbling as she walks around. Her and Trooper were playing rough just before this, so I figured she was just REALLY tired. I show Jake and we lay her down on her bed for 30 minutes or so to see if she gets better. Well, she gets worse. She got to the point where she couldn't even get up, her back end just wasn't working. Being a Sunday evening, I didn't know where to go or what to do. I frantically search for an animal hospital and find a good one in Snohomish. We rush her down there and talk with the vet about what it could possibly be. She said the most common reason this happens in dogs is when they eat something toxic and it looked like either anti-freeze or marijuana. Jake and I don't even have a bottle of anti-freeze on our property and our cars don't leak anything. Nor do we smoke pot. The vet was CONVINCED it was one of those things, but there was no way it was either! I was convinced it had to be something else, but I still don't know what it could have been. There wasn't anything on the ground, nothing she could have gotten into! The vet said she would need to stay in the hospital overnight for blood work and to flush her system out. I couldn't sleep all night. At the rate she was deteriorating I thought she was going to die. Finally at 6:30am I get a call that she is good enough to come home!

They never found out what it was, nothing showed up in the bloodwork except for a slight anemia (less red blood cells than normal), but that wouldn't cause these severe symptoms. I worked from home on Monday so I could keep an eye on her inside. She was extremely fatigued all day, but could still walk and was alert when I called her or gave her food. By the end of the night she was back to normal and playful again. I am so glad she is better, but I am worried that it will happen again, or to Trooper, since we don't know what caused it.

While I was working at home on Monday, a blizzard was happening outside my house. Literally. White out conditions where I could barely see the house accross the street. We got almost a foot of snow over the course of 5 hours. That made conditions very icy this morning, but Jake is still driving me to work every day so there's no worries there. :)

Well, my day at work is over so I better pack up to meet Jake outside soon. Tonight we have decided to go to bed early since we've been so sleep deprived lately. I can't wait. :)

I went to bed at 6pm last night, woke up at 9:30, then went back to sleep around 11. LOTS of sleep for Jay! Hope you got plenty last night.
